Joey Bada$$ Says Meeting Serayah Made Him Change His Mind On Polyamory

OTwo years ago, Serayah and Joey Bada$$ likely wouldn’t have expected that they would be in love and awaiting the impending arrival of their first child together, a baby boy. In a new interview with Of The Essence, the couple opened up about their love story and walking into the journey of parenthood together.
Serayah and Joey, who initially met when she was cast as his love interest for his music video for the song “Show Me,” detailed their instant connection and chemistry that led them to fall in love and how the couple is in the nesting stages of her pregnancy.
“I’m great, honestly. At the finish line,” Serayah said of the countdown to her first child. It will be the second for Joey, who has a daughter from a previous relationship.
“We both turn 30 this year. I turned 30 in January, she turns 30 in June,” Joey added. “So naturally, there’s a lot of transitional things happening in our lives, and it’s very, very symbolic at this point in time right now. It’s just the beginning of a new chapter.”
The rapper and actor also shared how meeting the actress changed his previous preference for polyamory into strict monogamy. “That was where I was at in my life at the time,” he recalled to the outlet.
“I was very much living a lifestyle of a bachelor, and it just aligned with what I was doing,” Joey continued. “But I met Ray, I bought a home, and it just changed my perspective. It definitely shifted, and the dynamic that I wanted changed.”
“So I’m very much monogamous now, and I don’t discourage or disagree with anybody going after polyamory or whatever if that’s what you want to do. But this is where I’m at now and this is where I feel secure,” he said.

Serayah, who publicly revealed her pregnancy in February during the Adore Me runway show, explained why she decided to reveal her bundle of joy on the runway.
“An opportunity came to me to walk in the Adore Me fashion show and I disclosed to them that I was, I think at the time, around five or six months pregnant” she said.

“When they said that they were fine with it, I was like, ‘Okay, well maybe this is the opportunity, and this will be the moment,’” Serayah continued. “And me and Jo-Vaughn [Joey], we just agreed on it and it honestly was the most beautiful way. I couldn’t imagine doing it any other way. I was really big on not making my reveal feel contrived or forced. So I felt like it was really just God aligning.”
With summer 2025 just around the corner, the young couple will embark upon the new season by celebrating the arrival of their greatest collaboration.
