UPDATE: CeeLo Green has confirmed that the video was not real, and was part of an “upcoming project” he was working on. Check out his explanation below.

ORIGINAL STORY: Shocking footage from a security camera video was released Saturday that depicts artist, CeeLo Green apparently getting injured by an exploding cellphone.

In the black and white video the producer is seen meeting with people before he’s left alone where he answers his phone. He can be spotted talking when the phone start to release smoke and then exploding while he’s holding it to his ear.

The origin of the video appears to come from a blogger Instagram account called Philly Chase, which notes that CeeLo immediately collapses out of his chair when the explosion happens. He’s seen alone, laying on the floor face down for a couple seconds before the footage cuts off.

It has not been confirmed by CeeLo’s team if this video is authentic or not, but we definitely hope he’s OK after watching this.

Last October, CeeLo got engaged to his longtime girlfriend, Shani James and in November he released his fifth studio album Heart Blanche. “It was just a typical night at the studio, but then again, not so typical cause I did something extra special, out of the ordinary,” he said about the night he proposed to James.

“I went and purchased a ring that we had seen together, maybe four or five months or so prior. I went back and purchased the ring and I just kind of had it stashed away in some old equipment. And I said, ‘Will you reach in there and grab something for me?'”

CeeLo got on Facebook live to explain the surveillance video that had fans worried about him. Apparently, the video was a part of a music project that somehow leaked.

“I just want to let everybody know that I am alive, and I’m well and I’m OK,” CeeLo said in the clip. “Truthfully, I’m really upset that anybody had to be emotionally disturbed by what they saw today… Actually, what you saw today was a clip from a smaller video that we were shooting for a new project I’m doing called Gnarly Davidson. It’s supposed to set up and introduce the new character identity, you know what I’m saying?”

Adding, “I’m still gonna release the music, though. But first and foremost, for everybody that love me and care about me, I just want to say that I’m OK … I just want to thank everybody for their love and support and concern.”

So, um, there you have it. CeeLo is OK and got our attention.
