Taraji P. Henson, Octavia Spencer, and Janelle Monáe will bring to life the story of Katherine Johnson, Dorothy Vaughn, and Mary Jackson, three incredible Black women being portrayed in the upcoming flick Hidden Figures. The trio of Black beauties were the brains behind one of NASA’s greatest operations in history: astronaut John Glenn‘s launch into orbit.

Just saw the trailer for #HiddenFigures. Finally these women, these #computers, are getting recognized for the critical role they played in space exploration at #NASA. It's because of women like them that me, @joymariejohnson, @rhondalenai, @_sai_89 and countless other black women in #STEM can do what we do. These are the unsung heroes #Queens
We’ve never seen Henson in a role like this before. The Empire star transforms into Johnson, the brilliant mathematician of the group, bringing out her subtle side. Spencer and Monáe co-star as Vaughn and Jackson.
Dances with Wolves actor Kevin Costner, who plays Al Harrison — head of NASA — rounds out the star-studded cast.
The Theodore Melfi directed film hits theaters Jan. 13, 2017. Watch the amazing trailer below:
