The Academy was recently lauded for their move to increase minority and female membership by 2020, but it seems the organization doesn’t think they are doing enough.

Page Six reports that the Oscars are desperately searching for Black faces to color the presenters list a little bit more.

Domino, Domino, only spot a few blacks the higher I go.

According to a Page Six insider, “The Oscars are looking for a black celebrity to give out the Best Picture award. Names they are talking about include Oprah Winfrey and Morgan Freeman.”

With Hollywood heavy weights bowing out of the awards one by one (Will, Jada, Spike Lee, etc) an Oprah or Freeman nod would definitely ramp up the black and brown star power.

Otherwise, this audience is going to look pretty, well, white.

Mariah Carey may be sporting the bling bling of the century with her 35-carat engagement ring from fiancé James Packer, but don’t expect these two to jump the broom any time soon.

US Weekly reports the two lovebirds are both still married to other people.

Carey & Cannon’s divorce is not yet finalized, and Packer is still legally married to his ex-wife Erica Parker (who is reportedly dating singer, Seal).

So looks like this couple needs to wrap up some loose ends of the past before they tie the knot.

Shonda Rhimes threw humility out the window when she accepted her Norman Lear achievement honor at the Producers Guild Awards over the weekend, and we’re here for it.

“It’s not trailblazing to write the world as it actually is,” she told the crowd of industry heads.

While speaking of the beloved and riveting characters of all of her TV franchises, the media mogul explained she “created the content that I wanted to see and I created what I know is normal.”

The Shondaland creator went on to explain that creating developed, complicated, diverse characters shouldn’t be considered avant-garde, it should be a common creative practice. She continued:

“Basically, you are just giving me an award for being me, in which case I totally deserve this. Really, I am honored to receive it. The respect of this award does mean the world. It just makes me a little bit sad. First of all, [writing about] strong women and three dimensional people of color is something Norman was doing 40 something years ago. So how come it has to be done all over again?”

Yass Shonda. Way to hit them with the truth.

The ex-husband of Real Housewives Of Beverly Hills star Kim Richards’ died of cancer Sunday, ET reports.

The 58-year-old lost his battle with lung cancer in a medical facility.

“It was important to him to be an inspiration to others fighting cancer. He was fighting til the end,” the source said. “We are all in a fog. It doesn’t seem real yet.”

Kim and Monty Brinson had one child together during their 3 year marriage.
