“Acts like these have no place in our country and no place in civilized society,” Attorney General, Loretta Lynch said today in a press conference. Lynch was literally just sworn in on June 17, 2015 and she’s already facing the more difficult parts of her job description. She called the massacre “heartbreaking and deeply tragic.”

She’s joined forces with the Justice Department’s Civil Rights Division and the FBI to investigate the shooter, who has been identified as 21-year-old Dylann Roof.
