Not only is Janet Jackson planning to remind all these youngins who taught them by making a musical comeback, she’s also planning to launch her own record label. That’s right! The Boombox reports that Janet Jackson will be in control (sorry, couldn’t resist) of her own record label, Rhythm Nation Records.
Rhythm Nation Records will be established in partnership with BMG, and will be looking for artists, already established as well as new, to join the label’s roster.
“Thank you to the talented team at BMG, my new artistic home,” Jackson said in a statement. “The opportunity to be creative in music and every form of entertainment has great potential here.”
The statement continued saying that Rhythm Nation Records will release her not yet titled comeback in the Fall, with the intention of also becoming the home to musical game changers.
This sounds like it could go well. I hope for two things, that the artists on the label are genuinely good, and that the label is fully committed to embracing the digital age.
