Ray Rice’s Wife Releases Statement

Yesterday, TMZ released jarring visuals of Ray Rice knocking his then fiance unconscious in the elevator of an Atlantic City hotel before dragging her into the hallway like a rag doll. The disturbing footage sparked outrage in the news and ultimately led to Rice being suspended indefinitely. Rice was shunned by his NFL peers, entertainers like Seth Rogen and any other person who felt sick after watching the disturbing surveillance footage. But, one important person’s voice was missing, the victim herself–Rice’s wife Janay kept quiet as social media erupted with hashtags like #WhyIStayed and #WhyILeft.

Janay broke her silence in a statement on a private Instagram account that was verified by the Baltimore Sun:

“I woke up this morning feeling like I had a horrible nightmare, feeling like I’m mourning the death of my closest friend. But to have to accept the fact that it’s reality is a nightmare in itself. No one knows the pain that [the] media & unwanted options from the public has caused my family. To make us relive a moment in our lives that we regret every day is a horrible thing. To take something away from the man I love that he has worked his ass of for all his life just to gain ratings is horrific. THIS IS OUR LIFE! What don’t you all get. If your intentions were to hurt us, embarrass us, make us feel alone, take all happiness away, you’ve succeeded on so many levels. Just know we will continue to grow & show the world what real love is! Ravensnation we love you!”

Domestic violence is a complicated subject. We do not pass judgement on Janay for deciding to marry Rice after the violent night, that was her choice. We just hope she is safe.

VH1’s “Black Ink Crew” Brawl In The Streets

If you’ve ever watched VH1’s reality show “Black Ink Crew,” you know just how dramatic the cast can be (guess that’s just the atmosphere of the tattoo shop). Between Dutchess and Ceasar’s tumultuous relationship and Puma’s baby momma drama, it’s like a poor man’s soap opera. Well, things got really out of hand this weekend when a brawl broke out between the cast in the NYC streets landing one person in the hospital. Apparently Dutchess was jumped by Puma’s wife Quanni and some of her friends.

Footage of the brawl shows Ceasar fighting and security putting another man in a choke hold. Dutchess posted this clip of the altercation on Instagram, with the caption:

Fashion Week Ratchetness! Tahiry Involved In Fight Before Teyana Taylor’s Runway Show [EXCLUSIVE]

Now we all know “Love & Hip Hop” is known for being ratchet, but last night Tahiry Jose brought the explosive drama to New York Fashion Week when she was supposed to walk the runway at Teyana Taylor and Toure Design’s show. SMH. 

A source spilled the tea to HelloBeautiful exclusively and said that the show was originally supposed to be at Helen Mills Event Space in New York (see that invite below), but thanks to Tahiry’s fight it had to be moved to a whole new venue and the show started two hours late. Here’s how it allegedly went down:

Tahiry, breezed into to the event space much earlier than the 6pm show to get ready to get her model on, but when she found out they didn’t have a dressing room specifically for her our source said she got “diva” and got an attitude (um, note to Tahiry: models at high-fashion designer shows all get dressed in the same space backstage, so there’s that). We’re told she was so irked that she wasn’t getting the special treatment that she started getting into it with a male assistant to the owner of the space. The assistant kept telling her to calm her down and eventually Tahiry threw a drink in his face! After that the assistant allegedly threw a punch which landed on her face and sent her tumbling onto the floor. Tahiry’s two assistants, who are also men, jumped the owner’s assistant, according to witnesses.

We can’t deal!  It’s completely disrespectful to throw a drink in someone’s face, but how many times do we have to discuss that there is no excuse for a man to put his hands on a woman? None. EVER.

According to our source, the owner threatened to call the cops and tried to hold Tahiry back until they got there. The reality star managed to escape the venue without speaking to the police.

Now Teyana showed up after the fact, but by then, there was one huge problem for her fashion show:  after the melee  the owner decided to pull the plug on the event at his venue and the models were associated with the venue so when the venue was no longer an option, neither were they.

Teyana’s team had to scramble to find another location and asked people on the street to model in the show, our source says. The venue switched to 49 Groove Lounge, which was small and caused “notable” guests like Bow Wow and Erika Mena to leave  (Mena was overheard saying she was too claustrophobic for the cramped new location).

Anyway, despite the foolery, we’re told Teyana and her team were able to pull it all off and the show went on…even if it was two hours late, in a new venue and filled with random models.

Nikko Smith Refuses to Take A Lie Detector Test

Now that the cast of “Love & Hip Hop Atlanta” stopped talking about Stevie J and Joseline’s alleged drug use, they were able to tie up some loose ends on the final installment of the reunion special last night. The cast carried on while Stevie and Joseline, Benzino and Althea gave their interviews from another location.

While most people were waiting to hear Joseline and Stevie’s explanation for the massive brawl that ensued after Benzino called his former friends coke heads, we wanted to hear from Nikko who seemed to be avoiding the hot seat. But that didn’t last for long. Mimi’s friend Ariane blasted the Stevie J wannabe when he refused to take a lie detector test to prove that he didn’t leak the infamous “Mimi & Nikko: Scandal in Atlanta” sex tape.

Nikko still insists that he didn’t have a hand in leaking the tape to Vivid Entertainment, but we weren’t born yesterday. Despite the negative backlash, Mimi has been holding her head up high and revealed that she will get paid for the rest of her life off the tape. As for Nikko’s marriage drama, he says he filed for divorce.

More Details Arise In Shantel Jackson’s Lawsuit Against Floyd Mayweather

September just started and already it’s been a heart-wrenching month for domestic violence survivors.

Last week, Shantel Jackson filed a civil lawsuit against former fiance Floyd Mayweather for battery, assault, defamation, invasion of privacy, false imprisonment, harassment and infliction of emotional distress. New details emerged have emerged in the case that further portray Mayweather as a misogynistic jerk.

According to court documents, Mayweather showered Shantel in expensive gifts when they first got together. Then he became extremely controlling. Shantel allegedly had to “make herself available to him virtually at all times.” Jackson also claims that Mayweather attacked her in the same manor he attacked his previous girlfriend Josie for which he was arrested in 2012. Mayweather allegedly “choked her and forcibly took her phone away from her to look through it.” He Jackson forgave him.

Mayweather allegedly demanded to know the security code to Jackson’s personal LA home where she stored her belongings. “The same evening he took her jewelry, Mr. Mayweather directed one of his agents to remove large amounts of her personal property, consisting of clothes, shoes, purses, credit cars and cellular telephones” to “‘test to see how important these possessions were to her.”

Jackson tried to leave Mayweather, but he found her and “attacked her at gunpoint. He “bent her arm, restrained her and pointed a gun at her foot, asking: ‘Which toe do you want me to shoot?'”

According to the docs, “for a period of time’ after this attack Mayweather kept Shantel ‘a prisoner in his home.” After Jackson aborted his baby in 2014, he attacked her again. He ‘dragged her back by her arm into the condo and blocked the door and would not allow her to leave for more than an hour,” Jackson alleges.

When Jackson was spotted with Nelly at a basketball game, Mayweather threatened to release nude photos of her. She is seeking an injunction to prevent him from leaking the pics.

Mayweather now has 30 days to respond to the summons.
