Have you ever watched the voyeuristic reality show, “Big Brother?” It’s a CBS show that follows the lives of willing participants who want to live out their lives on camera as they face household challenges that tests their will to do without certain luxuries like food, beds, etc. In season 15 of “Big Brother,” we’re introduced to some of the worst bigots we’ve ever seen on reality TV. It’s almost as if they don’t even realize they’re being filmed on a constant basis.

There’s typically a 24-hour feed that goes beyond the show’s weekly hour-long episodes three times a week. That feed tends to catch some of the most candid moments of the cast’s lives in the house and often doesn’t make it to national television. However, some of the things that have been said during this feed about Black people, gays and Asians. Check out some of the most racist and rude remarks:

  • Contestant GinaMarie referred to welfare as “n*gger insurance” and said that fellow contestant Candice, a Black woman, was showing her “blackness” now that she wasn’t on the block.
  • Both houseguests Spencer and Amanda have come up with affectionate nicknames for their gay housemate Andy: “Kermit the Fag” and “Faggoty Ann.” It was also predicted by houseguest Aaryn that Andy will win MVP because “people love the queers.”
  • GinaMarie said Helen, who’s Asian, “should be kissing our ass and serving us some fucking rice.”
  • Aaryn said of Andy, “No one’s gonna vote for whoever that queer puts up.” She also suggested he’d win MVP because “people love the queers.”
  • Aaryn said about Candice, who’s black, “be careful what you say in the dark; you might not be able to see that bitch.” (A month ago, Aaryn tweeted, “Attractiveness comes from inside. What would you look like if your looks mirrored your words and actions?” So much irony.)
  • GinaMarie said Candice “gets that fuckin’ blackness,” referring to Candice’s reaction to something that happened in the game.
  • Talking about sheets that smelled bad, David said they were that way because “black Candice” was on them, and then admitted, “that was totally racist.”
  • GinaMarie said, “you know two blacks stick together. They’re like tokens.”

These shocking statements are not new ideas by any means. In fact, having them come to the light on reality TV is almost refreshing. Former “Big Brother” cast member, Ragan Fox said it best in an open letter to producers:

“What’s the point of casting racial, ethnic, and sexual minorities if production’s going to edit out the racism, ethnic discrimination, and homophobia that these people encounter inside the house. If you really want to provide a groundbreaking twist, SHOW CBS VIEWERS HOW SOME STRAIGHT, WHITE PEOPLE talk about gays, Asian Americans, and African Americans.”
