Chenoa Maxwell recently unveiled her latest project, “Leaders of the New Cool,” at a pop-up exhibition hosted at Canoe Studios in New York City, sponsored by Hennessy. Estelle, Luke James, and Danny Simmons were among the attendees on hand to celebrate the digital photography installation from Maxwell that was represented in a large touch screen viewing gallery that allowed party-goers to interact with the works. On hand were young cultural influencers who were the subjects of the photos, including Sessilee Lopez, Chef Roble Ali, Shaun Ross and singer/tv personality (“La La’s Full Court Life”Po Johnson, among others.

Shot in the course of a day, Maxwell’s “Leaders of the New Cool” relates the interplay of motion, light and focus to convey the energy of today’s youth culture and its revision of mainstream cool and culture. Matching fresh faces with technology, Maxwell’s project captures the innovation of art that existing a world where every mobile device allows the audience to participate and reorganize a collection of works.

From celebrities to friends, everyone at the “Leaders of the New Cool” pop-up took time flip and rotate the photographs on the large-scale touch screen gallery. An approachable and engaging collection of works, the “Leaders of the New Cool” pop-up exhibit delivered an art party that nodded the energy that made art in New York the height of 1980s culture. With further showcases for the series to come, Chenoa Maxwell is one to watch in photography and a leader in the field of art and technology.
