Yandy Smith chose to live a part of her life out in front of the cameras when she signed on to be a part of Mona Scott Young’s reality show, “Love & Hip Hop.” She had no idea that her life would take a dramatic turn in front of those same cameras, that would dictate the rest of her life as a mother and potential mother. Yandy‘s baby’s father, Mendeecees made his debut on the show’s third season and it wasn’t long before his criminal actions caught up with him and on the show, he turned himself in to authorities for drug trafficking charges.
Now that he’s facing some serious time in prison, Yandy’s reality got a bit too real. The two share a son, Omere and now Yandy plays the role of their little one’s mother and father until Mendeecees comes home. Yandy’s been carrying her strength like a purse, “I’m handling it. It’s life and the more that I share my life on camera, the more I see that other people go through these things too. There’s been an outpouring of support, reaching out to me. Life happens to everyone and it’s just happening to me.”
Dispelling rumors that Mendeecees, Yandy tweeted:
Despite all that’s happening to, Yandy, she remains a boss. As a mother, business woman and hustlapreneur, Yandy is nothing short of impressive. We caught up with the mini-mogul, supporting her mentor Mona Scott-Young at the #TeamBeautiful She Talks event and she dished on everything from how she shows Mendeeecees she loves him to who cyber stalks for lust.
*If I was stranded on a desert island I’d bring…I would bring Omere, I would bring his dad and I would bring little Mendeecees, that’s all I need.
**How do you express your love…I’m very affectionate. I love to kiss my son up and down. His dad, I kiss up and down. I love hugs, kisses and cuddles.
*** The best way to get over a breakup…Me and Mendeecees just broke up two and a half years ago. How did I get over that? A date. I thought about him the entire time. [laughs] And that’s why I ended up back with him. I was probably miserable on the date and crying in the bathroom. But to get over a breakup, I just want to go to the movies, go eat–it doesn’t help, but it’s a temporary get you off my mind and hopefully you’ll bump into me so I can make you mad. I’ll tweet that I’m out on a date! [laughs]
**** The one thing that I don’t like about myself…I hate sometimes the faces I make. When I look at myself, especially on TV and I see those faces, I say, ‘Who and why is that person making that face?’ I hate the faces I make. Even when I don’t want to make a face, I make it. It’s involuntary face. My faces say what it really is. I hate that about myself. I hate that I don’t have a voice like Whitney Houston and I love to sing. I sing all the time, everywhere–in the streets, in the shower. My baby sings with me. He can sign and dance. I hate that I don’t have that kind of voice because I want to be a singer. It’s what I want to do with my life. [laughs] If I could! I could manage myself!
*****What was your last moment of lust…[laughs] I have to cross my legs on that one. This is s secret. Don’t tell anyone, but I love me some–when Mendeecees reads this, he’s going to shoot me–I love me some him first and foremost, but after him, I love me some Laz Alonso. I’m following him on Instagram and he could post a picture eating, at the bus stop, or parking his car and I would have to cross my legs again. [laughs]
