Feeling sluggish around 3pm again? Forget the remote, have you any idea where you put that H&M gift card? Can’t drop those last 10 lbs? If you answered yes to any of these questions then it’s probably time to tap back into your childhood and remember one of your mother’s golden rules: “Breakfast is the most important meal of the day!”
The name says it all–you have to “break” your “fast.” Your body has been “fasting” for at least 8-10 hours (the time post dinner coupled with your beauty rest). And then you have the nerve to go several more hours without “edible goodness” by not eating your first meal of the day until lunch?! Your body is in one mode and one mode only. Starvation mode. Hello slow metabolism, headaches, fatigue and fuzzy thinking. Break your current cycle and jump-start your day by “breaking your fast!”

Your Body Without Breakfast. The body is going to do what it has to do to survive, so when you skip breakfast it begins pulling fuel from fat cells and sending it straight to the liver in order to be converted into energy. This process is super inefficient and leads to poor regulation of blood sugar. Hello diabetes. So stop this bad habit girl!
Eat Breakfast Like A Queen. I tell all my clients this from the get go, and once they make this little change they are literally running and telling all they know about this awesome magic trick. Trust me, it works. Most people, if they eat breakfast at all (50 million American’s don’t) they are eating like a peasant. A small piece a fruit. A slice of toast. A boiled egg. And yes, those are all excellent options. But the caloric intake is super low and therefore not filling. So go for it. Eat up. You have all day to burn these calories…so have that fruit, the toast AND the boiled egg.
Plan Ahead. So you can grab and go in the mornings. The number one excuse why people skip breakfast is, lack of time. So plan ahead by boiling a bunch of eggs on Sunday night, or pre-cleaning a variety of fruits and sorting them in small separate containers in advance. This coupled with the thousands of prepackaged individual serving options in grocery stores everywhere means that ”no time,” is “no excuse.”
