In between preparing for the release of her album, Woman, Jill Scott gifted #TeamBeautiful and fans with an intimate concert in Washington D.C.
Jilly from Philly took the Interludes stage by storm and performed her feel good anthem, Golden from 2004’s Beautifully Human: Words and Sounds Vol. 2.
During her set, Jill discussed the impact of meeting Nina Simone, and how the iconic artist suggested she leave the country in order to be appreciated more as an artist, as well as the importance of traveling period, in terms of personal growth.
“I think the world is to travel. You’re supposed to taste other food, you’re supposed to sit in other ways, you’re supposed to wear other clothes. There’s so much to learn. There’s so many rhythms. There’s so many languages. There’s so much beauty. It’s worth the trip.”
