Texas is flooding. And the situation is going from bad to worse with each passing day after severe storms riddled parts of both Texas and Oklahoma this week, causing extreme flooding and resulting in impromptu evacuations for many locals. Some areas are said to have reached up to seven inches of rain, which has led to Governor Greg Abbott officially declaring at least 70 counties as disaster areas. The death toll has risen up to twenty-one people in the last count, and this comes as more rain and severe weather is expected to hit the state this weekend. Just yesterday, thousands of people in cars were trapped for six hours on a freeway that was blocked by floodwaters near the Dallas area.

Late Friday President Obama signed a disaster declaration for the state, although reportedly Obama had ordered federal aid since May 4th to assist in local aid efforts. But the disaster declaration will allow the state to have access to funding to start rebuilding, although there are no reports on estimated or exact figures of the damage that has been caused by the flood.
