USC Responds To Taraji P. Henson’s Racial Profiling Allegations

Taraji P. Henson recently made headlines when she said her son was racially profiled on the campus of USC. In the February issue of Uptown Magazine, Henson disclosed several interactions her son had with police at the University.
“My child has been racially profiled. He was in Glendale, California and did exactly everything the cops told him to do, including letting them illegally search his car. It was bogus because they didn’t give him the ticket for what he was pulled over for. Then he’s at University of Southern California, the school that I was going to transfer him to, when police stopped him for having his hands in his pockets. So guess where he’s going? Howard University. I’m not paying $50K so I can’t sleep at night wondering is this the night my son is getting racially profiled on campus.”
Yesterday, the Department of Public Safety Chief at USC John Thomas released a statement on Henson’s claims,
“I was deeply disturbed to read news reports about a prospective student who felt profiled on or near campus because of his race. We encourage reporting of allegations of bias and I hope for the opportunity to have a conversation with the young man and his mother.
I would like to look into this matter further and better understand who was involved and what took place. As someone who personally experienced racial profiling as a teenager, I have a stake in learning more about this incident and doing all I can to reach a just resolution.
It is not clear to me which police departments were involved. Any allegation of bias or unequal treatment by university officers would trigger an investigation that I would supervise along with the university’s Office of Equity and Diversity. It is my expectation and that of the university that our department uphold the highest standards of constitutional policing, affording equal rights and respect to all persons.”
Taraji has yet to respond to this latest development publicly.
Maybe she’ll address it when she hosts Saturday Night Live on April 11th. It’ll be the actress’ first time hosting the late night show.
We already know she’s going to bring down the house.

Tyrese‘s ex-wife Norma Mitchell broke her silence on her former marriage to Tyrese. The couple began dating in 2002, married in 2007 and Tyrese filed for divorce less than a year later.
Norma revealed the union had some rocky moments. “Yes, there was [physical and emotional abuse in my marriage],” she told MadameNoire. “Definitely. If you have this conversation with many women, they can tell you the exact same thing. Sometimes it’s so covert that you don’t know it’s happening until it’s happening.”
Norma & Tyrese have been battling it out in court for years. Norma was recently granted permission to take their daughter Shayla to Isreal to visit her mother and ailing grandmother.
“I’m not a flight risk. It was sad for me seeing myself called ‘Satan’ in the press. It really hurt my feelings. I would never take my daughter to live in a different country away from her father. And if I were going to do that, I wouldn’t be asking for her passport. I’m just going to see my mom. My mom is from Israel and she’s in Israel with my grandmother who is too old to travel. Sometimes we only get to see them once a year. The last time we saw them was three years ago.”
It definitely doesn’t sounds like these two will be friendly anytime soon.

Is Beyonce planning on stopping the world again with another surprise album?
According to frequent collaborator and producer the Dream , Beyonce literally has hundreds of songs ready to go.
“There’s always multiple albums being made. Most of the time we’re just being creative, period,” he wrote. “We’re talking about B, somebody who sings all day long and somebody who writes all day long. There’s probably a hundred records just sitting around.”
The Dream also mentioned that Beyonce recorded nearly 20 songs of Fela Kuti inspired material before her 4 album dropped.
“We did a whole Fela album that didn’t go up. It was right before we did 4. We did a whole different sounding thing, about twenty songs. She said she wanted to do something that sounds like Fela. That’s why there’s so much of that sound in the “’End of Time.’”
Well Bey, we like leftovers so feel free to drop any of that music anytime soon.
