EXCLUSIVE SHOTS: ‘Black Nativity’ Takes On Langston Hughes Classic Play
Now that we’ve gotten passed Halloween and all it had to bring, we’re ready to embrace the holiday season. And what better way to do so than with holiday films. There are a slew of releases coming: “The Best Man Holiday,” “Tyler Perry’s A Madea’s Christmas” and one we are particularly looking forward to, “Black Nativity.”
The Kasi Lemmons-directed film is a modern adaptation of Langston Hughes’ famous play, “Black Nativity” that highlights the life of a street-wise teen from Baltimore who has been raised by a single mother who travels to New York City. In the Big Apple is where he spends Christmas with his estranged relatives and embarks on a surprising and inspirational journey.
“Black Nativity” stars an impressive cast, Forest Whitaker, Angela Bassett, Jennifer Hudson, Tyrese Gibson, Jacob Latimore, Nas, Luke James and Mary J Blige, that brings to life the musical essence of Langston’s written vision.
