President Barack Obama is appointing one of the most powerful women in television to sit on the board of trustees for the Kennedy Center.

According to the Associated Press, Shonda Rhimes was handpicked by the President for the special honor. The Golden Globe winner is best known as the creator of hit shows like “Scandal,” “Grey’s Anatomy” and “Private Practice.

“I am grateful that these impressive individuals chose to dedicate their talents to serving the American people at this important time in our country,” Obama said. “I look forward to working with them in the months and years ahead.”

The White House reports the Commander in Chief also tapped financier David Rubenstein and executive Alexandra Stanton for the Kennedy Center’s board.
