Kerry Washington is good at keeping secrets because we had no idea she was dating or planning to marry San Francisco 49ers cornerback Nnamdi Asomugha!

According to the marriage certificate obtained by E! News, the secret lovers tied the knot on June 24th in a private ceremony in Blaine County, Idaho. The groom’s sister, minister Chisaraukwu Asomugha, served as the officiant and Washington’s parents, Earl and Valerie, signed the certificate as witnesses.

Sources say the couple had been dating for a year. Asomugha is a three-time Pro Bowl star who was drafted into the NFL in 2003. He played for the Oakland Raiders and Philadelphia Eagles before settling with the 49ers. He’s also tried his hand at acting with previous appearances on shows like “The Game,” “Friday Night Lights” and “Leverage.” And of course, we all know Washington is the star of ABC’s hit drama “Scandal.” She’s also the cover girl of Vanity Fair’s August issue — where she mentioned nothing about her obviously very serious relationship with Asomugha.

According to reports, this is Washington’s first marriage. Before Nnamdi, the 31-year-old was engaged to actor David Moscow but they parted ways in 2007.

We see the new Mrs. Asomugha likes to keep her private life, well, very private. We send big congratulations out to the newlyweds and hopefully they will release new details about their wedding day to the public.
