telenovela star and possible Mexican presidental candidate form A-List Brady Brunch
Telenovela Star, Angelica Rivera, Marries Mexican Governor
A whirlwind fairytale romance turned into a white wedding layer cake bonanza bash in México, despite the current rough patch of ultra-violence and political uprising. All eyes were on the goliath nuptials of telenovela star Angelica Rivera and Enrique Peña Nieto, governor of the State of Mexico and possible future presidential candidate, according to our friends at Celestrellas.
Just earlier this year, México saw the holy matrimony of A-listers Carlos Slim Domit son of the world’s richest man, magnate Carlos Slim Helú, 43—Maria Elena Torruco Garza, 27, daughter of Miguel Torruco, president of the National Tourism Confederation of Mexico… and it looks like they got themselves a healthy competition for hottest celebrity couple.
Taking place in the state capital at the Metropolitan Cathedral of Toluca on Saturday, November 27th, a swarm of Rivera and Peña Nieto’s fans waited hours to get a sneak peek of the blushing bride, 40, and gushing groom, 44. The lovebirds met in April 2008 after a chance meeting at the governor’s office and began dating that summer before getting betrothed during a trip to Italy where they were blessed at the Vatican by Pope Benedict XVI himself.
If the cheering crowds weren’t enough, 200 guests, who included celebrities and zenith Mexican officials, were in attendance at the mass ceremony and the reception gala which took place at the Governor’s house. The countries musical prodigies Banda el Recodo Pedrito Fernandez and Juan Gabriel performed.
With six children, three each from previous marriages, the couples have formed a relatively unique family that recalls the Brady Brunch. Rivera was granted a religious annulment of her previous marriage while Peña Nieto was left widowed in 2007 after his previous wife passed away from complications of a cardiac arrest. Rivera, known for her defining roles in some of biggest telenovelas to hit the tube like Destilando Amor, La Dueña and Alcanzar una Estrella II with Ricky Martin, has no intentions of slowing down. Peña Nieto, a high-flying politician in México is lobbying for the role of next for the presidential candidate for Institutional Revolutionary Party against rival party, President Felipe Calderon of the National Action Party.
