The moon men have landed in NYC this year, where the 2016 MTV VMAs are set to go down. Here’s all you need to know about this year’s show.

WHAT TO EXPECT:

V Festival 2016: Hylands Park - Day 2

The always energetic and wise DJ Khaled is set to host this year’s pre-show, which means he’ll be dropping “major keys” and probably bringing out major guests, too.

Internet sensation Joanne The Scammer scammed her way into the show.

Rihanna will receive the highest VMA honor, the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award and is planning one hell of a performance, we’re sure.

Future, Nicki Minaj, Ariana Grande, Britney Spears, and G-Eazy are also set to hit the stage, while Kanye West, who announced his bid for 2020’s presidency at last year’s VMAs, been given four minutes to do whatever he wants. (We’re still wondering what that hell that means.)

Rumor has it, Beyoncé will be in the building and possibly performing.

EYE-CANDY FACTOR:

That all depends on your sweet tooth. If Bryson Tiller and Future are your type then hells yeah, there will be plenty of eye candy.

WHAT KINDS OF SNACKS & LIBATIONS SHOULD YOU PREPARE?:

Popeyes has a two-piece meal for $2.99. Couldn’t hurt.

EMOTION-METER:

Expect emotions to run high if Queen Bey descends upon us, because we will shed tears like we did during her Formation World Tour.

We’ll be paying close attention to Nicki Minaj, who is unpredictable and liable to curse a fellow pop star out at the drop of a beat. Remember: Miley, wus good?!

RiRi is coming to snatch edges and Kanye, well, we predict whatever he does will illicit plenty of emotions … unfavorable or otherwise.

CAN I WATCH IT ALONE?:

Yeah, but don’t. Any award show is better when watched in a group setting. Call over the girls and rock your pajamas while watching all the memorable moments unfold.

IS IT WORTH MY TIME?:

That depends if you feel like missing an episode of Power, which airs at the same time. Our suggestion: DVR Ghost while he begs for Tasha’s help and watch the VMAs live. You don’t want to be that coworker who missed it.

The 2016 MTV Video Music Awards air on MTV Sunday, August 26 at 9 p.m. ET. Follow us on Instagram for live red-carpet updates.
