Bruce Jenner wasn’t kidding when he told Diane Sawyer that it was going to be an “emotional ride” during their two-hour 20/20 special Bruce Jenner: The Interview last night. Revelatory and brave, the Olympic gold medalist (reborn a reality TV star through Keeping Up With the Kardashians) confirmed after months of speculation that he was transgender and for “all intents and purposes, I am woman.

As the conversation went on, Sawyer was curious to know who, out of his four famous Kardashian stepchildren, was the most supportive of him living his truth.

Jenner disclosed that “Kimberly has been by far, the most accepting. And the easiest to talk to about it.”

And Kim was inspired to understand his transgender journey because of her husband Kanye West.

Prior to shining a light on West’s touching tolerance for his transgender father-in-law, Jenner revealed that Kim was the first Kardashian (outside of her mom Kris) to be aware of his secret because she had previously walked in on him wearing a dress.

After that incident, Kim was reportedly silent for a long time because she didn’t know how to react or if they were even allowed to “talk about.” When Jenner finally attempted to be more honest again about his journey in recent years, he said Kim listened but still found it hard to understand.

That was until she spoke with West.

Jenner explained:

Kim told me a story. She goes, ‘You know what really turned me around. On thinking about this?’ I said, “What?”

She goes ‘Kanye.’ I went, ‘Oh. Okay.’ They were talking about it and he said to Kim: ‘Look it. I can be married to the most beautiful woman in the world and I am. I can have the most beautiful little daughter in the world. And I have that. But I’m nothing, if I can’t be me. If can’t be true to myself. It doesn’t mean anything.

And since then. Kimberly has been by far, the most accepting. And the easiest to talk to about it.

That’s pretty amazing of West. In the process of explaining his own family’s adaptation to his transition, Jenner revealed a warmer side of the often publicly volatile West to the world. Major points for North West‘s dad.

After the 20/20 special wrapped, many celebs went to Twitter and Instagram to show support for Bruce Jenner’s announcement. Hailed as a “hero” and inspiration” to hundreds just like him, below are tweets from Lady Gaga, Ellen DeGeneres, Sam Smith and of course, the Kardashians and Jenners.
