Alexandra Shipp has the look but does she have what it takes to pull off playing baby girl? We’ll see on November 15, when “Aaliyah: The Princess of R&B” premieres on Lifetime. Produced by Howard Braunstein, Debra Martin Chase and Wendy Williams, “Aaliyah: The Princess of R&B” is based on the bestselling book Aaliyah: More Than a Woman.

The film also stars Anthony Grant as Damon Dash, Izaak Smith (Mirror, Mirror) as Timbaland, Elise Neal (The Soul Man) as Gladys Knight and Chattrisse Dolabaille (Home Away) as Missy Elliott. Lifetime released the first visuals to the highly anticipated film and we’re kinda feeling like it could be good.

Former Disney star Zendaya Coleman was originally cast as Aaliyah to mixed reactions when she suddenly pulled out due to a conflict of interest.

What do you think?
