Remy Ma is getting ready to walk free after spending the last six years of her life behind bars.

It’s been a long time coming, but July 31 has finally arrived for Remy! She’ll be released from the Bedford Hills Correctional Facility. The lady lyricist was originally sentenced to eight years in prison back in 2008 for shooting another woman. The prison stay stemmed from her conviction on two counts of assault.

The “Conceited” rapper told Angie Martinez that she hasn’t made any immediate plans to release an album through a label upon release. She’s had her opportunities to sign a deal, but she didn’t think it was right to ink any agreements

“I didn’t want to sign anything as major as a deal from [prison]. A lot of things have changed since I’ve been gone, so I wanted to come home,” said Remy, who has signed on to do a reality show.

She hasn’t given up many details about he series, but she hinted that documenting her first days out of lockup wasn’t necessarily her idea. “They’re making me do it, said Remy. “I keep telling them no. It’s too real.”

One thing she’s looking forward to is spending sometime with her husband Papoose, who has remained by her side throughout the prison sentence.  “After six-and-a-half [years], it’s kinda serious. You gotta respect that. That’s official,” said Remy. “He’s an official dude. Nobody can ever front on that.”
