Ed Lover might as well be one of the most iconic figures in Hip Hop. Along with Dr. Dre, he was able to bring Hip Hop into the living rooms outside of the urban demographic by pioneering Yo! MTV Raps. Fast forward some 20 years later and the “Cmon son” rapper is still breaking ground in the Hip Hip community.

Ed Lover currently hosts a show on Sirius XM radio, Back Spin and he even handles programming. That’s what I call getting your grown man on. The father, husband and entertainment savant also hosts his own YouTube channel, “C’mon Son,” which has grown into it’s own site. Needless to say, Ed Lover’s determined to take over the industry without being a part of it. “When it’s all said and done, I’m an industry dude who is not an industry guy. I never had security. I’m just a friendly guy that got lucky enough to make a living off this business. I’m a family man first. My family is more important to me than anything else in this world,” Ed Lover explained as he tucked me under his arm in the crowded night club.

I felt like one of his oldest friends as he started gushing about his wife and family. His love for his home team is so thick, you could pour it on your pancakes. While I had Ed Lover candidly sharing his inner thoughts, I figured, why not ask him random questions about lust, love, breakups and everything in between. Check out our chat below.

*If I was stranded on a desert island I’d bring…

Music. Music keeps me going. My children and my wife.

**How do you express your love?

I kiss her, I tell her I love her, we hold hands, we’re kids with it, like for real, like you have to let your woman know that she’s beautiful to you. Everyday I let her know how much I love her. Now, she wears the head rag every night to bed, but I’ve gotten used to it and I love the way she looks in the morning–no makeup, nothing. My woman is gorgeous!

You are so in love!

I am in love!

*** The best way to get over a breakup...

Well, you know what? You have to like the people that you’ve been with. So, I get over them, but I still have love in my heart for the person. There’s a difference between loving somebody and being in love. So just because I still love you and I care about you, don’t mean I’m in love with you. So I’m still friends with any woman that I’ve ever told, “I love you.”

Is your wife cool with that?

Yes she is because it’s not constant contact that’s a part of my past and I care about them. If I could do something for you, I will do something for you.

****What do you like least about yourself?

I’m a procrastinator. And I’m trying to be better with that. Sometimes I don’t follow through with things that I should and sometimes I don’t know my self worth.

*****What was your last moment of lust?

Oh, last night me and my wife got it on! It was crazy! I love my wife. I have the most beautiful wife in the world, yo. My wife is 43-years-old and she looks better than any 25-year-old in the country, so I lust after her all the time. So lust in my house is alive and well!
