Michelle Obama US-POLITICS-INAUGURATION-BALLS

You can literally hear the gasps and “awwhs” from the lucky attendees of the Commander-in-Chief inaugural ball when Michelle Obama entered the stage. The ruby-colored chiffon and velvet halter dress was a follow-up to the white gown Jason Wu designed for the FLOTUS four years ago. She paired the dress with a handmade diamond embellished ring by jewelry designer Kimberly McDonald, and shoes designed by Jimmy Choo.

Many designers were asked to submit sketches of their proposed inaugural gown for the FLOTUS. This red halter dress was the only one Jason Wu submitted for Michelle’s consideration. Talk about confidence! He collaborated with the jewelry designer to create the jeweled neckline.

At the end of the inaugural festivities, the first lady’s outfit and accompanying accessories will go to the National Archives.
