If you go through throwback Destiny’s Child photos, you’ll see the evolution of their style. While the group last reunited on stage in 2013 at Beyonce’s “Blackout” Super Bowl Halftime show and again at Beyonce’s culture-shifting Coachella performance, the hope for another reunion is always at the forefront of our minds. The influence of Beyonce, Kelly, and Michelle is immeasurable. From their eclectic style with Houston influences and Mama Tina’s touch to their catalog of fem-forward anthems, Destiny’s Child is one of the biggest girl groups of all time.

Destiny’s Child Style

Known for their coordinated looks, Mama Tina was the mastermind behind many of DC’s most memorable style moments. In an interview with Essence, Tina recalled drawing inspiration from “old Motown girl groups.”

When you think of a group like the Supremes, you not only wanted to hear them sing but you waned to see what they were going to wear because they were different so, we wanted to create that on our little budget,” she said. Tina determined what to put the members in based on what the girls’s loved about their own bodies. “Kelly and LaTavia both had beautiful legs, LeToya loved her stomach out and then Beyonce loved her long skirts.”

Destiny’s Child was known for their tight harmonies, but they were also known for their tight style. Check out these Destiny’s Child style moments throughout the years.

Mama Tina recently reflected on this Destiny’s Child look, telling Essence, “I remember dying these shoes and they were a disaster because they were white and we dyed them and they came out too dark so, I soaked them in clorox…this is too funny! It definitely brings back memories. It was a cool little outfit for the time, though.”
