It’s no secret that the
British press has a serious problem with
Meghan Markle.
So much so that when
Prince Harry announced that two were dating back in 2017, he had to ask them to tone down their racist language when covering her, her family and their relationship.
But since the
two got engaged and
then married last year, the media still hasn’t let up on the Duchess of Sussex, relying on tired stereotypes about Black women to describe her and spread rumors about her to sell papers and to get clicks. And now that
she’s pregnant, the media is even more obsessed with undermining the expectant mother for the smallest of reasons.
Case in point: This week, a British newspaper had the audacity to criticize the 7-months pregnant former actress for touching her baby bump too much.
“Have you noticed how Meghan Markle ensures her baby bump takes centre stage?” the Daily Express asked.
Huh?
Like every pregnant woman doesn’t hold her belly. That, and where else should her bump be other that front and center?
Ya’ll, the hate is so real. But thankfully folks took to Twitter to call out the
British media’s inherent racism and point out how they ironically show overwhelming support to other Royals, while they have disdain for Meghan.
That’s about white.
