1. Robin Thicke ft. T.I. & Pharrell “Blurred Lines”
Robin Thicke’s “Blurred Lines” is without a doubt the song of the summer. Whether you love or hate this song, you can’t help but to do a little two step when you hear “hey, hey, hey!”
2. Daft Punk ft. Pharrell Williams “Get Lucky”
Whenever I hear Daft Punk’s “Get Lucky”, I automatically think about cruising down the high way in a convertible with the wind blowing in my hair! Hey, a girl can dream right? This song definitely brings back all the great memories of summer 2013!
3. Rich Homie Quan “Type of Way”
In the event that you wanted to have ratchet (but clean) fun, you had to This is another party anthem that was sure to get your barbecue, pool party or small “kick back” turned up!
4. Ariana Grande ft. Mac Miller “The Way”
When I first heard Ariana Grande sing this song, I swore it was an old Mariah Carey song that I never heard before! When I found out that this amazing voice belonged to 20 year old Ariana Grande, I was blown away and instantly became a fan! Ariana has a hit on her hands with this one!
5. Jay-Z “Tom Ford”
Of course, no playlist would be complete without at least one song from Jay Z. Although Jay didn’t release this song until the middle of the summer, it’s still a fave!
6. Migos ft. Drake, Meek Mill & Tyga “Versace”
Drake possibly ran this summer with “Started From The Bottom”, “No New Friends”, “Girls Love Beyonce” and more. His “turn up anthem”, “Versace”, is definitely a party starter and will probably be included in the best songs of the fall and winter playlist also!
7. Ciara “Body Party”
Anything that sample’s Ghost Town DJ’s 1996 summer hit “My Boo” is sure to be a hit! Add Cici and Future in the mix and voila, you have a “Body Party”. This song is perfect for chilling on the beach and watching the sunset with your boo – after you’ve perfected Cici’s sexy dance moves of course!
8. J. Cole ft. Miguel “Power Trip”
J. Cole and Miguel showed us that even guys can get love sick sometimes with “Power Trip”. Cole and Miguel were the perfect combination for this song. Even though this song isn’t the most “turned up”, I think it’s safe to say that everybody has learned just about every word over the course of this summer. In fact, I bet you’re even singing along right now!
9. Tamar Braxton “The One”
The youngest of the Braxton clan, Tamar Braxton, has given us nothing short of greatness since she came on the music scene as a solo artist and got rid of any misconceptions of being “Toni Braxton’s little sister”. “The One” samples Mtume’s classic hit ‘Juicy Fruit” and makes you feel all warm and tingly inside as Tamar sings about love and being in love with ‘the one’. The music video is also one of those fun, summer time visuals that makes you want to hang out and have some fun in the sun!
