1. AJ & Free
After over 14 years on the air, “106 & Park” is signing off for good. We’ve followed this show since we were teenagers and it holds a special place in our hearts. While the show isn’t going away completely, (it will be available online), it definitely won’t be the same. Although it was hard, we’ve found the most memorable moments in the show’s history. Take a trip down memory lane with is.
2. Aaliyah’s Last Interview
Who could forget Aaliyah’s last appearance on “106 & Park?” Tragically, on August 25, 2001 Aaliyah and eight others were killed in a plane crash in the Bahamas. We still miss you Baby Girl.
3. Beyonce Dances on 106 & Park
We love Beyonce’s dancing and this clip is one of the reasons why. After being called out by Rosci, Beyonce quickly learns the Rickey Bobby and makes it her own.
4. Tyra Banks Surprises Bow Wow With A Kiss
Mr. 106 & Park himself got a chance to kiss his childhood crush Tyra Banks live on air. The look on his face is priceless.
5. JIN Owns Freestyle Friday
If you really remember watching 106 & park early days, then you no doubt remember Jin, the Freestyle Friday champion. Jin freestyled his way into a record deal with Ruff Ryders. Although, he never cracked the mainstream, he was super talented. Check out this video of Jin’s best moments.
6. B2K Performs “Uh Huh”
B2K jump started their career on “106 & Park.” They brought their song “Uh Huh” to the show and it soon dominated the number one spot. Their videos would go on to hold down the top spot for months to come.
7. Free Gets Pissed Off At Kanye West
Kanye West was always an a**hole and this clip proves it. Before he became Mr. Kardashian and actually did urban media, he visited the “106 & Park” couch and chatted with Free about his “Jesus Walks” track. In typical Kanye fashion, he pissed off Free by insulting her questions until he realized she wasn’t playing games with him. “Imma wait til you finish,” she said. “You feisty,” he responded.
8. August Alsina Plays Keshia Chante
Earlier this year, August Alsina and Trey Songz got into a little beef, but August Alsina wasn’t up for talking about it. During his visit to 106, host Keshia Chante made the mistake of asking him about if the squash the disagreement. August responded, “I just told ya’ll not to ask me that sh*t when I got up here.” Oop. Cut to commercial.
