Death Of Kanye’s Mom Inspires New Law
Nearly two years ago, the mother of Kanye West, Donda West, 58, died as a result of complications from a cosmetic surgical procedure. As a result, a new law passed yesterday in California.
According to the Los Angeles Times, state lawmakers approved a new measure, called the Donda West Law, which makes health checks and a written clearance mandatory before being allowed to undergo plastic surgery.
This stems from Donda’s preexisting coronary artery disease and multiple postoperative factors following surgery. The fatal outcome has led many to speculate that surgery was performed on West, a retired professor, without a physical examination.
“Sometimes patients may think they are well enough for cosmetic surgery, but in reality are not,” Assemblywoman Wilmer Amina Carter told the paper. “This bill will potentially save lives.” (from: AOL BlackVoices)
