We just lost another great.

“House Of Cards” actor Reg E. Cathey died on Friday after battling brain cancer. However, the circumstances behind his death are unknown.

He was only 59.

According to Variety, Cathey began acting in 1984 and has since starred in numerous television shows, playing Norman Wilson in seasons four and five of “The Wire” as well as in “Grimm,” “Law & Order: Special Victims Unit,” “House of Cards,” and drama “Outcast.”

In 2015, he won an Emmy for his role in “House of Cards” as Freddy Hayes, the owner of a barbecue restaurant that Kevin Spacey’s character Frank Underwood often visited, CNN reported.

“We are heartbroken by the passing of our friend and House of Cards colleague Reg E. Cathey,” said Netflix in a statement.

“Reg was the kindest man, the most giving actor, a true gentlemen. Our sympathy goes to his family.”

The Emmy-winner was born in Alabama and attended the University of Michigan and the Yale School of Drama.

His friends, colleagues and fans took to Twitter to send their condolences:
