Fresh off of striking a plea deal in an Atlanta courtroom to dodge a felony conviction for kidnapping, Rick Ross made troubling comments about the lack of women under his MMG label.
In an interview with The Breakfast Club, Ross quipped that he hasn’t brought any women under his wing because he would have to “f*ck them.”
“You know, I never did it because I always thought, like, I would end up fucking a female rapper and f*cking the business up,” he said.
After a wave of backlash hit the web, the 41-year-old rapper issued a statement on Facebook, back stepping on his loaded comments.
“I want to address an insensitive comment I made on a very sensitive issue, especially in a minority dominated industry like hip hop,” he began.
He went on to acknowledge the two women who are the ‘backbone’ of his empire, are his mom and his sister.
The ‘Rather You Than Me’ artist said he regrets his mistake, and hopes to work with his community and use his platform to implement change.
This isn’t the first time the rapper has received backlash for problematic statements about women. His song ‘UOENO’ caught heat for drug and rape references.
