It’s happening.

Political pundits and American voters who saw Trump’s frightening campaign promises as lofty talk, will soon feel the consequences of the legislation we all feared.

In Trump’s first couple days in office, he has quickly passed executive orders to proceed with the DAPL pipeline, cancelled a planned rate cut to FHA mortgages, tweeted about moving forward with building the wall, and pulled federal funding from abortion rights worldwide.

On Monday, Donald Trump signed an executive action to stop international non-govermental organizations that perform or promote abortions from using US government funding.

The latest decision in reproductive injustice has since prompted many women to pursue other forms of birth control that will outlast the Trump administration’s first term.

According to CNN, since the election, the number of women clamoring to Planned Parenthood to get an IUD has increased by 900%. IUDs can last anywhere from 3 to 10 years, depending on the brand. The urgency has increased as Trump moves to overturn the Affordable Care Act that guarantees free birth control to most women. Without the act in place, many women would be unable to pay for their birth control or afford an IUD insertion procedure.

“They are desperately concerned that they might lose their access to health care,” Cecile Richards, president of Planned Parenthood told the news site.
