Gabrielle Union is looking hot on the latest cover of Miami-focused Ocean Drive Magazine. The wife to one of the NBA’s most talented players, Dwyane Wade, and a full-time stepmom, her life, like her characters in the BET drama series Being Mary Jane, is anything but cookie cutter.

On Being Mary Jane…

“She’s challenging, complicated, and messy. She progresses and regresses, which at times as a viewer is frustrating. One minute you’re rooting for her, the next you’re rooting against her.”

On family…

With her familial duties as wife and stepmom being her number one priority, she’s very particular about the roles she chooses.

“I have to be touched and moved by the experience, the words, the story. I definitely can’t go back to cash-grabs anymore.”

Gabrielle might not be doing cash-grabs, but her schedule is quite packed. She’s currently promoting the upcoming season of Being Mary Jane, and is excited about her collaboration with Florida-based watch company Invicta.

“Fashion has been an important part of my career. It’s become such a fun outlet for expression.”

Gabrielle also doesn’t rely on husband Dwyane to supply her fashion. She proudly states, “He appreciates my independence, and my high credit score, and the fact that if I want a Chanel bag, I’m not asking for his Amex – I’ve got my own.”

It’s not easy being Gabrielle. She has two films, Sleepless Night, also starring Jamie Foxx, and A Meyers Christmas, featuring Danny Glover which will be released later this year.

With a happy home life and a career in high-speed, 43-year-olda actress continues to prove she can be everything and anything she wants.
