Racists don’t like a lot of things. They don’t like diversity. They don’t like change. They don’t like color.

They also don’t like fictional characters being depicted as Black people.

Like Rue in Hunger Games or Santa Claus or Hermione from Harry Potter.

JK Rowling had to clap back at the trolls who aren’t happy about a Black Hermione in the new play Harry Potter and The Cursed Child, The Guardian reports.

Noma Dumezweni was cast in the highly anticipated show. But, of course, naysayers are criticizing the casting choice because of the color of her skin.

Rowling said: “I had a bunch of racists telling me that because Hermione ‘turned white’ – that is, lost colour from her face after a shock – that she must be a white woman, which I have a great deal of difficulty with. But I decided not to get too agitated about it and simply state quite firmly that Hermione can be a black woman with my absolute blessing and enthusiasm.”

So sit down, all ye prejudice. The inventor and creator of the series loves it, and so do we!
