2016 is about to be lit for Don Cheadle.
The amazingly talented actor is about to release the biopic of Miles Davis that he both directed and starred in and it’s already generating some serious buzz.
The film follows Davis in the late 70s when his career was in a downturn and the iconic jazz musician was becoming more eccentric and reclusive.
Ewan McGregor stars opposite Cheadle as a Rolling Stone reporter writing a “comeback story” on Davis.
Cheadle told EW that he chose to set the film in the 1970s purposely, so as to show a different side of fame.
Musically and what he did with his art form was amazing to me all the time, for the most part. But for me, as a human and an artist and someone who’s a creative person, what happens when you just stop for five years? That’s why we picked that moment to sort of be the departure point: him on the verge of talking again, basically.
