When’s the last time we’ve heard new music from neo-soul legend Erykah Badu? The “Honey” singer just blessed us with her rendition of Drake’s after hours single, “Hotline Bling”.

Badu covers the song pretty much verbatim but those adlibs you hear towards the end were written by a very special person…Badu and Andre 3000’s son, Seven.

Ironically her version of the song is seven minutes long. And it’s worth listening to all the way through. The Grammy Award winning singer takes us back to her “Baduizm” days with the chord changes and the melody, she basically makes the song into a ballad.

Prior to the song dropping, she gave insight to her relationship with Drake via twitter. “I love Toronto. Hanging with my lil brother, Drake. He’s such a gentleman, but I find it strange he doesn’t look me in my eye when we talk…”

Now Erykah, girl, you know it’s not safe for men to look you in your eyes! We all know she has a certain “je ne sais quoi” that’s made many men weak from Andre 3000 to Jay Electronica to Common!

Erykah’s rendition of “Hotline Bling” is from her upcoming mixtape, “But You Caint Use My Phone” (Yes, “caint” with an “i” and no apostrophe)

In other news, singer Keyshia Cole also remixed “Hotling Bling” but it’s not going over so well on twitter. Check our Keyshia’s rendition below as well as several of the shadiest tweets about her cover!
