Morris Chestnut is having an amazing career moment right now, between his hit movie The Perfect Guyand his new show Rosewood, which debuts tonight on FOX. But he has no problem giving props to other Black actors, especially the beautiful sisters in starring roles.
At a screening of his new show in Harlem last week, Chestnut, opened up on which Black female TV character is the sexiest. He told TeamBeautiful:
“From Taraji to Kerry to Tracee to Viola, they all have certain things about them that are sexy to me,” he said. “I just love that they are really positive, they are all really smart and they’re all their own woman. So I think there’s a lot of things about all of them that are sexy.”
Morris definitely knows a thing or two about being sexy, and fans will get to see plenty of it in Rosewood. In the show, he plays Dr. Beaumont Rosewood, a private medical investigator who teams up with beautiful, no-nonsense Detective Annalise Villa (Jaina Lee Ortiz), to help solve some of Miami’s most vicious crimes. His character, whose faulty heart makes him one stroke or heart attack away from death, lives life to the fullest. He’s a perfect mix of cocky with charm, and fans get to see a much lighter side of Morris.
Morris, who’s been acting for the better part of two decades, said he’s proud to be part of the changing face of Hollywood, which is seeing more Black actors in headlining roles.
“I’ve been in the game a long time,” he said. “It feels great for us to have the success that we’re having right now. People really came out and supported The Best Man: Holiday, people are supporting The Perfect Guy, so to be a part of that movement … and still be here after all this time, it’s a blessing from God. And I’m thankful to all of my fans.”
