Surveillance Planes Cover Baltimore Skies After Recent Protests

Big Brother is at it again.

Residents of West Baltimore have now been greeted with surveillance planes flying over their streets, homes and businesses. For days, city and federal officials have been holding a campaign to watch over citizen activity in response to the protests and riots that have plagued their city in the wake of Freddie Gray’s death.

Information from Flightradar24 and the Federal Aviation Administration reveals that two Cessnas were circulating over areas where riots had occurred with assistance from the FBI on Thursday, Friday and Saturday night. Experts explain that while we don’t know the planes’s analytical reach, they are designed to identify and track the movements of people in the area.

The American Civil Liberties Union is now investigating the legal authority on use of this surveillance technology and how much ground the planes were able to cover.
