Tell us something we don’t know, right? Republicans are haters, especially of President Obama.
There’s a new survey that polled Americans on their feelings about President Obama and apparently one third of us don’t think President Obama loves America.”Less than half of adults, 47 percent, said the president loves his country, while 35 percent said he doesn’t and 17 percent weren’t sure, according to a Huffington Post/YouGov poll [PDF] released this week.
But this is the same survey that asked which religion they think describes President Obama’s “deep down” beliefs–and half of the Republicans responders claimed Muslim. It must be the name? It seems Republicans feel just like former New York mayor Rudy Giuliani, so we blame him. Giuliani recently made terribly offensive comments about President Obama:
“I do not believe, and I know this is a horrible thing to say, but I do not believe that the president loves America. He doesn’t love you. And he doesn’t love me. He wasn’t brought up the way you were brought up and I was brought up, through love of this country.”
The survey revealed that 85 percent of Democrats don’t question Obama’s patriotism, however only a small 11 percent of Republicans don’t question. That’s a given. Those Republicans can be haters. Speaking of haters–Giuliani sounded like the biggest hater when he tried to come for President Obama’s patriotism. Matter of fact, he came off racist:
“Well, first of all, I’m not questioning his patriotism. He’s a patriot, I’m sure. What I’m saying is, in his rhetoric, I very rarely hear the things that I used to hear Ronald Reagan say, the things that I used to hear Bill Clinton say about how much he loves America.”
So in clearing up his statement, Giuliani made it seem as if the Black president doesn’t speak like the former White presidents and for that reason, he doesn’t love America.
There’s been a lot of pointless polls with President Obama at the center of them. Back in 2010, the Post and ABC News conducted a poll, asking people where they thought Obama was born. 20 percent of the American people (31 percent Republicans) said he was born outside of the United States. Remember President Obama’s origin was a hot button topic back in 2010–even Donald Trump entered the conversation, demanding Obama show the world a birth certificate.
Here’s the thing–this man is on his way out of office. And not only that, but he wasn’t the president who turned his back on the residents of New Orleans when Hurricane Katrina demolished the city…and we don’t see anyone questioning that guy’s patriotism.
