R&B singer Usher has gotten a case against a woman who has stalked him in the past dismissed. In Decemeber, Usher headed to court to have a restraining order filed against Darshelle Jones-Rakestraw, after she sent The Voice former coach troubling messages via Instagram and Twitter. Police arrested Darshelle on Dec. 6 and was charged with contempt of court after she resumed harassing Usher once, a previous restraining order he obtained against her in 2012 ran out in 2013. Darshell left messages with Usher’s attorney demanding the singer return her calls and send her money. Court records also alleged Darshell told Usher’s security team she would follow him on tour and “get him” if he didn’t fork over some money to her.
According to Straight From The A, Usher had the case dismissed without prejudice by his attorneys. The news was given to the site directly from Darshelle herself! The woman logged onto the blog and wrote:
On January 8 2015 Mr.Usher Terry Raymond I dismissed all charges against me. It’s amazing how the public reacts to situations without considering both sides of the story.
I had just woke up on that picture and I called the police on myself because I didn’t want to be in Atlanta with a warrant. Mentally ill or not does not mean I am not capable of abiding by the law.
Um ok girl…. The site confirmed via court filings Darshelle’s story, after the woman uploaded the paperwork online. Although the case was dismissed the singer does have the option to re-file if Darshelle harasses him again. In 2012, Darshelle was slapped with the restraining order after she came to Usher’s Atlanta-area home insisting security let her in. Once police arrived on the scene, they warned the woman to keep her distance from Usher’s house. The following day, Darshelle returned and attempted to be let in once again by pretending to be his wife who misplaced her keys. Police promptly arrested her and Usher was granted a temporary restraining order. Darshelle was taken to a psychiatric ward for a mental evaluation but was released
