Did gay NFL players give support to Michael Sam? According to the free agent they did. Sam sits down with Oprah Winfrey for his first interview since he was cut by the St. Louis Rams and waived by the Dallas Cowboys. In the in-depth conversation on Oprah Prime, Sam opens up and reveals other gay players in the league contacted him to give support. Sam made headlines by becoming the first openly gay football player to be in the NFL. According to Sam:
Very few reached out to me and pretty much just told me their gratitude and how thankful they were that I had the courage [to come out publicly]. They wished that they had the courage to come out.

Men. There’s a lot of us out there. I’m not the only one. I’m just the only one who’s open.
