Five Alabama men have been arrested for sex trafficking after kidnapping a 13-year-old girl.

Three men and two teens have been charged after keeping a young woman against her will for three days while they violated her, AI.com reports. The girl, who said she didn’t know any of her abductors, immediately ran for help as soon as she was able to escape.

She’d been held from July 26-28, when she was “passed around” by the men, who repeatedly raped and sodomized her over the course of her captivity. All five men were charged in the heinous crime, but only four of them are still in police custody.

Nineteen-year-old Derion Jeff Shumpert, who was charged with second-degree rape, was arrested July 28 and released on $25,000 bond. Sammy Cooper Jr., 19, was charged with first-degree sodomy and his bond was set at $500,000; he’s still in Jefferson County Jail.

Khalil Lamontray Bradley, also 19, is presumably also still in custody with the minor teens arrested in this case. Although the younger perpetrators are not being named because of their age, they may be tried as adults.

It’s not clear how the girl was kidnapped in the first place or where she may have come from, but we’re glad she was able to escape that nightmare. She is currently in counseling to cope with the ordeal.
