According to reports, the major professional networking site created the new feature after a woman named Anna Rihtar quit her job and continued to be harrassed by her former boss.

“This feature adds an additional layer to your privacy controls by allowing you to block your profile, direct interactions, and network activity from logged in members who you don’t wish to interact or share personal information with,” the site reads. “You can block another member by choosing the Block or Report option on their profile page.”

Paul Rockwell, head of trust and safety at the social network, said the new feature was a long time coming.

“While on the surface this may seem like a simple feature to develop, it was not,” he explained to the SocialTimes. “There were many different use cases to consider, products and features to integrate, as well as a user interface we had to create.”
