Kanye West Explains Bringing Jesus On Tour

Even writing about Kanye’s concert, where he brought out Jesus and his 12 disciples, feels blasphemous. But Ye’ isn’t worried he’ll be struck by a lighting bolt hand thrown by God because he justified the religious spectacle in a recent interview. Kanye visted the Wild 94.9 radio station in San Fransisco, where he proposed to Kim K this week, to explain the method to his madness:

“I had a friend of mine that’s a pastor there as we started discussing how we wanted to deliver it. My girl even asked afterward, ‘Hmmm, is that weird if he just comes on stage?’ No, we do plays all the time where people play Jesus. What’s awesome about Christianity is that we’re allowed to portray God. We are allowed to draw images of him, we’re allowed to make movies about him. Other religions, you’re not allowed to do that. So that’s what’s really awesome about Christianity. That’s one of the awesome things.[…]Michelangelo did it,” he said.

“It’s a painting. It’s a sculpture. It’s a moving opera. It’s a play. I’m not even gonna do any comparisons with that because God knows where my heart is at.[…]I’ma tell you one thing. One of the things I wanted to get across with that message is that you can have a relationship with Jesus, that you can talk to Jesus. This is my literal…in the same way as someone can have ‘Jesus is my homeboy,’ that is the way I would express it. In the way I create it is that you can have a relationship with Jesus. You can talk to him.”
