There’s a new addition to the Obama family and her name is Sunny!
According to The White House Blog, the first family recently welcomed a new four-legged friend to keep their 4-year-old dog Bo company.
“Sunny was born in Michigan in June 2012, and arrived at the White House today,” the website reads. “Sunny is the perfect little sister for Bo – full of energy and very affectionate – and the First Family picked her name because it fit her cheerful personality,”
Just like her big brother Bo, Sunny a Portuguese water dog.
“We suspect Sunny will follow in Bo’s footsteps and keep the President company in the Oval Office, go for walks with the First Family after their 6:30 family dinner and even jump up on the First Lady’s lap from time to time!” the statement continued.
First Lady Michelle Obama expressed her excitement for the new girl in the family on her Twitter account. “So excited to introduce the newest member of the Obama family — our puppy, Sunny!” she wrote.
In honor of the new arrival, the Obamas are making a donation to the Washington Humane Society.
