Get to know a little more about Harleighblu!

Name: Harleighblu (my real name)

Age: 21

Hometown: Nottingham

Musical inspirations: Jill Scott, Erykah Badu, D’angelo, Lauryn Hill and Floetry

Biggest break thus far: Signing to the amazing Tru Thoughts label and being in a Jaguar music film with MistaJam.

Biggest fear as a new artist: I guess, if the rest of the world didn’t “get it” the way I get it…

When did you know this is what you wanted to do:

It’s all I’ve ever known, all I’ve ever wanted to do. From around seven-years-old I was writing songs and performing. I grew up listening to my mums record collection and would try emulate the singers. All I knew was that ‘one day I want to grow up and be like them. Ambitious, I know, but there was never a Plan B! We’ve only got one life, so you stay focused and you go for it!

If you were the love child of two musicians–dead or alive–who would they be? I’m told I would be the lovechild of Lauryn Hill and Amy Winehouse.
