The latest victim to gun violence in Chicago is six-month-old Jonylah Watkins. The beautiful infant was hit by stray bullets in a random shooting while her father, 28-year-old Jonathan Watkins changed her diaper in the front seat of his car. JET is reporting that Jonylah received several surgeries after the shooting, but passed away earlier this morning from her injuries.

Jonylah was shot in several places, including her thigh, shoulder, lung, liver and bowels. Reports claim this shooting is indicative of gang violence and Jonylah’s father could have been the target. The Chicago Police Department luckily have strong leads on this case, but as of now, no shooter has been identified.

NewsOne is reporting that Jonathan Watkins, was in serious but stable condition, recovering at Northwestern Memorial Hospital from wounds to his side, buttocks and face, which was only grazed, police said.

According to JET, “Chicago Pastor Corey Brooks, who camped out on the roof of a south side motel for several weeks to raise money for a community center to thwart gun violence last year, has offered a $5,000 reward for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of Jonylah’s shooter.”

There’s so much work to be done against gun violence and it seems like an impossible fight that everyone is up in arms about. There’s even a petition on Change.org from a nine-year-old girl who hates the idea of gun violence. What is happening in our world when kids have to worry about guns?

Chicago has seen a rise in gun violence, especially gang-related. Last year, there were at least 500 homicides. Something has to give! What do you beauties think about these tragic shootings in Chicago?
