Sandra Bland‘s family will reportedly receive $1.9 million in a wrongful death settlement, USA Today reports.

Cannon Lambert, the family’s attorney, also revealed the settlement includes several changes to jail procedures in Waller County, Texas.

Bland, who was just 28 years old, was found dead in her jail cell after being pulled over by State Trooper Brian Encinia for a routine traffic stop last July. The Waller County Jail claimed Bland had committed suicide by hanging. Bland’s family refuted their claims leading to an investigation around her death.

Encinia claimed Bland was “combative” in his arrest warrant. It was later revealed he lied. He was indicted on perjury charges and fired.

“The Waller County judge will be seeking passage of state legislation for more funding for local jails regarding intake and booking, screening and other jail support,” Lambert said following the settlement announcement.
