Now that Ted Cruz and John Kasich have suspended their presidential campaigns, it appears that Donald Trump is the GOP’s shot for President–and our current leader President Barack Obama has something to say to the media and the American public about that.

According to the Huffington Post, on Friday POTUS told reporters, “It’s important for us to take seriously the statements he’s made in the past. I just want to emphasize the degree to which we are in serious times and this is a really serious job.” He added, “This is not entertainment. This is not a reality show. This is a contest for the presidency of the United States.”

Welp.

He also urged the media to do a better job at reporting on Trump’s foreign policy stances and how unsupported they are from major leaders around the globe.”If they take a position on international issues that could threaten war or has the potential of upending our critical relationships with other countries, or would potential break the financial system – that needs to be reported on,” Obama warned.

“The American people, they’ve got good judgment, they’ve got good instincts – as long as they get good information.”

Boop.

Is The Fashion Industry Getting Better With Diversity? Not Fast Enough, Says A New Report

Over the past year, we have seen an influx of all kinds of models, from Black girls rocking Teen Vogue to plus-size model Ashley Graham making history on the cover of Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue. So doesn’t that mean the fashion industry is becoming more inclusive? Yes and no, says a new analysis.

According to Fashionspot.com’s recent Diversity Report, they looked at 236 ads that featured 422 different models and found a slight drop in white models from the fall of 2015 to the spring of 2016– 84.7 percent to 78.2. Meaning that this season,  21.8 percent of models featured were women of color. In addition, according to the report both Black and Latina models were cast at approximately double the rate of the Fall 2015 season, when percentages read 4.4 for black models and only 1.7 for Latinas.

But, that’s still incredibly low.

Looking at size, only 6 models in 422 ads were plus-sizes, a measly 1.4 percent of all models used.

Jennifer Davidson, Managing Editor of theFashionSpot, told The Huffington Post that American designers are “leading the way” when it comes to inclusion.

“Interestingly, it seems that American designers are leading the charge towards inclusiveness. The most diverse campaigns were from designers Marc Jacobs, Alexander Wang and Calvin Klein, whereas European designers Versace, Saint Laurent and Miu Miu were amongst the least diverse. A similar finding from our runway report showed that New York Fashion Week was significantly more diverse than London, Paris and Milan,” she said.

Sigh…Why Was A NC High Schooler Suspended For Smelling Like Weed Despite Passing A Drug Test?

A North Carolina teen was suspended for possession of marijuana despite not having drugs on her and passing a drug test, WNCN recently reported.

Jakayla Johnson, 15, told the CBS affiliated station that during her Chinese class a school officer came in claiming they smelled marijuana from the hall. According to Johnson, from there they smelled in between her fingers and patted her down.

“I was feeling embarrassed because they called me out of everybody,” she said.

Soon after, Johnson was suspended, because “her hands to smell so pungently of marijuana she would have to have possessed it in her hands at some recent point in time,” said school documents. But when she was taken to be tested, her results came back negative for drugs and alcohol.

However, those tests didn’t make a difference.

When her mother showed the negative test results to school officials, they suspended Johnson with possession. Meanwhile, there is no policy for smelling like weed and is up to the discretion of school officials, WNCN noted.

The only way to get Johnson’s suspension taken off the books is to have the school board appeal it, a meeting she will have on May 18.
