We all get to take a walk through lovers lane with Barack and Michelle Obama in the new movie Southside With You.
Nominated for the Grand Jury Prize at Sundance Film Festival, the movie chronicles the summer of 1989, when the future President takes Michelle on their first date.
Tika Sumpter and Parker Sawyers (and can we just say, this is some damn good casting!) play the couple, as they travel together through Chicago’s South Side.
The tale takes us from their daytime date to the Art Institute of Chicago to a screening of Spike Lee’s “Do The Right Thing.” So artsy.
It just means so much for us to see the ultimate symbol of Black love highlighted in such a special way.
Produced by John Legend, the film will be released nationwide on August 26th.
We can’t wait to watch it!
